Plumbing, Sewer, and Septic Questions Answered
Good plumbing decisions start with clear information. Below, Advanced Plumbing answers the questions we hear most often from homeowners, business owners, and property managers in Poplar Bluff, MO and across Southeast Missouri. With more than 60 years of combined experience, our team is glad to talk through anything not covered here.
What are your business hours?
Advanced Plumbing is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We are closed on weekends. During business hours, we prioritize urgent calls such as burst pipes, major leaks, and sewer backups.
What areas do you serve?
We are based at 2544 N Main St in Poplar Bluff, MO and serve communities across Southeast Missouri, including Sikeston, Dexter, Kennett, Malden, Doniphan, Piedmont, Puxico, Bloomfield, Van Buren, and Greenville. If you are not sure whether we cover your area, give us a call.
Do you work on both homes and businesses?
Yes. We provide residential plumbing for homeowners and commercial plumbing for restaurants, offices, schools, churches, and multi-unit buildings. Our services cover plumbing, sewer, and septic work, from routine drain cleaning and water heater repairs to trenchless sewer rehabilitation.
What causes a sewer smell inside a home or building?
A sewer smell often comes from a drain trap that has dried out, a failed toilet seal, a blocked plumbing vent, or a damaged sewer line. Running water in unused drains can help, but a smell that keeps returning should be checked so the source is found.
What should I check before calling about low water pressure?
Check whether the low pressure is at one fixture or the whole property. A single faucet often has a clogged aerator. If every fixture is affected, make sure the main shutoff is fully open, and on a well system, note whether the pressure tank is cycling normally.
What is trenchless sewer repair?
Trenchless repair fixes damaged sewer lines without digging a long trench. With UV lining, a resin-saturated liner is placed inside the old pipe and cured with ultraviolet light, forming a new pipe inside the existing one through existing access points.
How do I know if my property is on city sewer or a septic system?
A sewer charge on your water bill usually means you are on city sewer. Rural properties without that charge, or with tank lids in the yard, are often on septic. It matters because septic systems need regular pumping and care to keep working properly.
Why is my water bill suddenly higher?
A sudden jump in your water bill often points to a hidden leak, such as a running toilet, a dripping fixture, or a leak in an underground service line. If the water meter keeps moving with every fixture turned off, water is escaping somewhere in the system.
Can you schedule commercial work around our business hours?
Whenever possible, yes. We plan commercial drain cleaning, grease trap service, backflow testing, and repairs around your operating hours so customers, staff, students, and tenants see as little disruption as possible.
